Miller Erosion Test
This test bench is designed for determination of the abrasive effect of mud according to the “Miller” Number-system or abrasion properties of materials against a suspension (ASTM Method). This test stand is suitable for fine, wash-out types of wear. We have also converted it to test abrasion on sieves.

Test Bench Description
Standard: ASTM G75
Load (max): Up to ca. 20N
Speed (Standard): Up to ca. 0.3 m /sek
Sample 1: Block
Sample 2: Slurry, dry sand
Results: Weight loss, damage pattern
Conversions: Slurry + dry sand against fabrics and sieves and lower load option
Note: The given parameters are according to ASTM Standard. Others on request.
Principle
One of the benefits of this test is its international standards. This allows to compare results with existing data. There are standards for two test setups, either with a standard wear sample or with a standard slurry.
The abrasiveness of a slurry is measured as the “Miller number”, while the use of a standard slurry can be used to determine the resistance of a solid or a coating material against abrasion (SAR number: slurry abrasion response).
To determine the abrasion resistance of a test sample, it is subjected to an oscillatory friction movement in the suspension. Up to four test specimens can be installed and tested at the same time. The loaded specimens are oscillating in the slurry-bath.
